Morfeo Show is a component photo gallery for addition to Joomla.
What I like about it is that it has some really nice display options like the polaroid gallery. It also does a good job of generating large, medium and thumbnail size photos.
The things I don't like have to do with those same things. First the pain you experience is that most of the great display methods won't work with IE7. You get that irritating "Operation Aborted" error. Turns out the only view that works reliably is the classic view. If that's all that's going to work the Phoca Gallery does it better.
Second thing that irritates me is that all the uploaded photos are written to a morfeo show directory, but I get a lot of permission and ownership problems. It's impossible to manage the photos by ftp unless you have shell or direct command line access.
A client uploaded a photo with an apostrophe in the title. It broke the whole gallery. The photos don't get renamed and illegal characters don't get screened out. This is ok with Unix; but someone trying to show a client how to self manage is going to run into lots of problems and customer service calls when using Filezilla or something similar. The client uploaded the file about 15 times because it doesnt' show on the front end even though it says the upload was a success on the backend.
