Very seldom are there any problems with the server mailboxes. The most common causes of mail failure are:

Mailbox Full – it is over quota
Incorrect Setup – authentication for the smtp server not turned on
Outlook corruption – due to updates or errors on your hard disk
Anti-anything software – Anti-virus, anti-spam and personal or third party firewalls create connection problems.
Server time outs – Trying to send too large of an attachment and your ISP times out the connection.

Anytime you receive an error message with an error message number, you can go to http://Microsoft.com and enter the number into the search to find the problem and resolution. If you are not using a Microsoft product you can go to Google and put it in the Google search and get answers from people other than Microsoft for the same problem. Just paste the error message (or a portion of it) into the google search box and you will see what third party technical support companies have posted regarding the error.
